Delaware needs Christine O'Donnell, a true conservative. christine2010.com
For many years I actually voted for Mike Castle, even though I had serious issues with some of his stands on important issues for me. Such as abortion and embryonic stem cell research. I held my nose and voted for him anyway.
Then the TARP vote came up right before the 2008 election and he voted for it, and still with my own misgivings I voted for him. Then of course came the straw that broke the camels back, cap-and-trade. I decided I had voted for him for the last time.
When he announced that he would run for the Senate I went to work researching his voting record and his list of contributors. I was looking for reasons for myself and others not to vote for him. I found plenty, from his long list of voting with the Democrats on big issues like TARP, cash for clunkers, voted against the surge in Iraq, voted for and sponsored the disclose act, voted for the second stimulus act, voted to federally fund embryonic stem cell research, and the list goes on and on. I also uncovered the fact that he receives millions of dollars over the years from high-priced corporate law firms, firms who make their living on restructuring corporations after bankruptcies, he also has received millions from banking interest that have received TARP funding and other bailout funds. I also discovered that you may not actually be able to believe what he tells you. He has said that he will not vote for cap-and-trade in the Senate if elected. Personally I don’t believe him, I think he will most definitely vote for some form of carbon taxing.
Even so, with all of this, I have to admit that at times, like any big decision in life, and I do consider voting a big decision, I had to wonder. Was I doing the right thing in opposing Mike Castle.
Well, I can now say that Mike Castle has convinced me. I am doing the right thing in opposing Mike Castle.
Currently Mr. Castle’s campaign is running what can only be described as a smear campaign. He is doing it with the help of that shining star of journalistic integrity, The Wilmington News Journal. The News Journal’s Ginger Gibson writes the garbage and then the Cast
Last night, National conservative talk show host and author of the best-selling book, Liberty and Tyranny: A Conservative Manifesto, Mark Levin spent the opening segment of his show ranting about all the attacks on Christine O’Donnell.

I’ve noticed that Christine O’Donnell is under vicious assault today. You can’t go on the Internet without her being attacked for her finance, for her rent payments. For a lawsuit that she brought. And it’s not just the liberal nut-jobs. It’s some of the others over there at the Weekly Standard. There’s a link at Hot Air and so forth. I’m all for reporting the news, but obviously people with grudges and opposition research is being spread virally because it all seems to be happening today. Let me put this in some perspective for you, the same way I try put the J.D. Hayworth matter in perspective before National Review and others came out and endorsed McCain. I don’t give a damn about any of it. If she’s a moral, ethical person who follows the law, I don’t give a damn about any of it. We need people in the United States Senate who are going to repeal government-run health care. Mike Castle in Delaware says he is not going to vote for that. We need people in the United States Senate who are going to do everything possible to kill this phony Cap & Trade. Mike Castle voted for it in the House. We need pro-life senators. Mike Castle is pro-choice. We need senators who are not going to vote for activist Supreme Court Justices. Castle would. And I could go on and on down the list. These are the things that affect our families. These are the things that affect the next generation. How does Mike Castle pay his rent or his mortgage? With our tax dollars, that’s how. He’s been on the government dole most of his career. But who even cares about that? You know, there are big issues in front of us. Big matters. A big election. And why we have some back-stabbing going on for a variety of motivations, much of it personal. I don’t really care. People feeding information to bloggers hoping it goes viral. Well congratulations, it went viral. The people of Delaware, this has no impact on your lives whatsoever. None! We’re going to have John McCain, likely, in the United States Senate. What do you think John McCain is going to do? He’s going to be rounding up the liberals and moderates, as he’s want to do in the Senate, to do what? To undermine us! Yeah, but that J.D. Hayworth was in an infomercial. Who cares? I mean, for crying out loud! We can do better than this. And, we’re going to do better than this. Mike Castle is a liberal. I even see him being written as a moderate. What the hell’s a moderate? The guy votes for 90% of Obama’s agenda. That’s a moderate? Well Mark, he didn’t vote for government-run health care…but he won’t vote to repeal it, so he might as well have voted for it. I mean, ladies and gentleman, we have a country to save. We have a Constitutional Republic to establish and I’m supposed to worry about Christine O’Donnell’s rent! Well, I’m NOT worried about her rent! I’m worried about our future. And it is time that these self-appointed commentators who think they represent somebody or some perspective understand that this isn’t 2004, 5, 6, 7. It’s 2010 and we’re in perilous times and these are crucial elections. Crucial. You know, there was a conservative senator or at least right-of-center senator who was elected from Delaware time and time and time again. Senator Roth. You’ve heard of the Roth-Kemp or Kemp-Roth Bill? Well that was Roth, William Roth. And he was a supply-sider. Doesn’t mean he was conservative on everything, but he was a leader on certain issues that were crucial to the country. What’s Castle going to lead on? What’s Castle going to do? He’s going to be one of the most liberal Republicans in the Senate. So, it seems to me if people want to step out and endorse these guys, either directly or through the back door, then they ought to be held accountable, too. NRO, you endorsed John McCain. The interview, such as it was of Christine O’Donnell that barely got into any substantive issues that I read in the Weekly Standard. OK, Weekly Standard, we got it. You don’t like her. So, when these liberal senators, these liberal Republicans or these Mavericks or whatever they want to identify themselves as, undermine the conservative agenda, steal victory from us, who do we hold accountable? Now, if people want to be opinion MAKERS, if they want to influence the political scene, then they have to, at least from my point of view, be responsible for what they are doing. There’s a back story here with respect to Christine O’Donnell. Who’s behind all of this? But, as I say, who cares? Who cares that, oh she didn’t rent…you know you’ve got one out of every three people, excuse me, one out of every three homes that are being sold here, short sales or foreclosure, I read. Unbelievable. When you take unemployment, underemployment, part-time employment and people who’ve left altogether, that is people who want full-time jobs but can’t get them. We’re at the 15, 16, 17% range. Wow, we have a candidate that’s hurting financially. Oh, I’m sorry she’s not a multi-billionaire running for office like John Kerry. I’m sorry she didn’t marry somebody and can’t afford a seven million dollar yacht and park it in Rhode Island and duck her sales taxes. She’s a regular human being. So we’re to pick her to pieces, right? So Mike Castle can get elected. Now, there ought to be a backlash to this among Republicans and conservatives in Delaware. There should be a backlash.

After witnessing a bombardment of personal smear attacks directed at Christine O’Donnell, today, Mark Levin announced he wants to interview Mike Castle to discuss his record.
Mike Castle, you’re a coward! Mr. Producer, I want you to contact the Castle Campaign and ask him to come on this program. Will you? Doesn’t have to be today, obviously. How about next week? I want to see if Mike Castle will come on this program and answer questions. Not about his rent. Not about what he does in his home. Not about any of that. No, I want to discuss government run health care, cap and trade, his record, his pro-choice position. I want to discuss matters that are going to matter to you and me. I want to know if he would have voted for Elena Kagan. I believe he said he would, but I’m not sure, I’d have to double check that. I want to know what he would vote for to go in the court system. I want to know what this man will do that affects our lives. I don’t want to guess. So, we want to give Mr. Castle an opportunity to come on this program, as we’ve given Harry Reid that coward and he won’t. Come on, Mr. Castle, stop hiding. And you are. You’re hiding from everybody. Stop hiding. Come out of the woods. Show yourself. You’re running for the United States Senate. We know you have the Republican establishment in Delaware behind you. We know you have the Republican establishment in Washington, DC, behind you. That’s another reason you ought to be defeated.

The very last caller of the show had excellent point. He saw in an interview with Carl Cameron of the Fox News Channel, the Delaware State GOP Chairman savagely trashing Christine O’Donnell.

The following is an interesting analysis by a user on Free Republic named, Brices Crossroads.
O’Donnell poised to defeat Castle; Should Palin endorse her? (according to the numbers) Vanity | 09/02/2010 | Brices Crossroads Posted on Thursday, September 02, 2010 8:33:41 PM by Brices Crossroads There appears to be a dearth of polling in the red hot GOP Senate Priamry in Delaware in which Tea Party backed Christine O’Donnell is challenging the entrenched elitist and very liberal Congressman, Mike Castle for the nomination to Joe Biden’s old Senate seat. In fact, there is even less polling than was available in Alaska (unreliable as it was). As some of you know, I did two analyses of Joe Miller’s trends on Facebook versus Lisa Murkowski’s beginning on July 31. The links are below: http://www.freerepublic.com/focus/f-news/2570601/posts http://www.freerepublic.com/focus/f-news/2573312/posts I did a further analysis on August 18, which reinforced an unmistakable surge in Miller ‘s Facebook numbers vis a vis Murkowski’s stagnant numbers that were not reflected in any of the available polling. The absence of such polling entirely in Delaware suggests to me that it would be very bad news indeed for Castle. The Facebook numbers appear to bear this out. When I was researching the Miller-Murkowski Facebook race in early August, I recall seeing that Christine O’Donnell had fewer than 3500 Facebook Friends. This morning at about 9 a.m., she had 5632. Mike Castle, in spite of his long tenure in Delaware politics as the Governor and Congressman, had 2229 as of this morning. And the trends? This afternoon, at 6:50 p.m., less than 10 hours after I last checked, O’Donnell’s Facebook numbers had surged to 5762, an increase of 130, a surge of nearly 2.5% in less than 10 hours! Castle’s numbers remains stuck at 2229, ominously reminiscent of the stagnant Facebook Numbers which Murkowski registered throughout the Miller surge last month that culminated in his great victory. With O’Donnell poised to dispatch the uber liberal Castle, an assist by Sarah Palin may be all she needs in order to close the sale. The question is: Should she do it? For my money, Sarah Palin should endorse Christine O’Donnell. She is very much in the mold of Nikki Haley Joe Miller, Rand Paul and Sharron Angle and is an excellent and articulate conservative who is under attack by the Old Guard on the Eastern Seaboard. She will add yet one more constitutionalist voice to the chorus that will be singing from her hymn book come January 2011. The risk to reward ratio is great. If Palin is thinking ahead, and I know she always does, she has to know that Castle is a quisling who will sabotage not only the GOP effort to derail Obama’s poisonous agenda in the next Congress but that he will be around at least through the first two years of the next Administration (which, in my view, will be her Administration). He is a major problem, and he would be a major thorn in her side if she takes up residency at 1600 Pennsylvania Avenue. Castle should be taken out now, while the momentum exists and while the candidate to do it is available. I hesitate to offer her advice because her instincts are so very good. But I have to think she is waiting for the precise moment when her endorsement will have the maximum impact. And her sense of timing is…impeccable.

Makes Tea Party Endorsements Unanimous Says Castle Afraid to Debate O’Donnell Dover, Delaware (September 1, 2010) — The Diamond State Tea Party, today, joined the Independence Hall Tea Party PAC and Tea Party Express in endorsing Christine O’Donnell for the US Senate in the upcoming Special Election Primary to be held September 14, 2010. “The voters of this state are tired of politics as usual. Christine O’Donnell is a breath of fresh air who will stand up for the taxpayers of this state and nation,” said Diamond State Tea Party founder, Kevin Street. “Christine has been out meeting with the voters. discussing her ideas for turning this economy around. “But where has Mr. Castle been? For the last several months, various media and non-profit groups have been trying to arrange debates between O’Donnell and Castle,” said Mr. Street. “Mr. Castle has been a no show. He doesn’t believe the voters of this state are entitled to a debate on the issues. Imagine that, he would like a job promotion but doesn’t feel he needs to discuss it with his boss–the voters of Delaware. “It’s obvious Mr. Castle is hiding out because he knows his votes on Cap and Trade, and the Disclosure Act, among others, are completely out of touch with his constituents,” Mr. Street said. “Christine O’Donnell, on the other hand, has been out front discussing the issues with the voters at every opportunity. She is willing and able to debate Mr. Castle anytime, anywhere. “That’s what we love about Christine–her ability to articulate the issues.”

Last night at the Kent 9-12 Delaware Patriots meeting in Bower’s Beach, Christine O’Donnell announced several primary polls have her neck and neck with Mike Castle. She said some polls show Castle a couple points ahead, but others actually show her ahead.
There was standing room only in the firehall, as Christine electrified an audience of about 200 people, receiving several standing ovations.
No wonder Castle began running negative smear radio ads today! He is running scared!
And here I thought Castle was already going negative! Silly me! Actually, I always knew Castle would flail away sliming it up in the last week. I’m sure next week will be very interesting!
UPDATE: That was fast! I just heard an attack ad on WGMD radio!
Castle Planning To Go Negative On O’Donnell Rep. Mike Castle (R) is gearing up for battle in Delaware: He is planning to air negative ads on his GOP primary opponent Christine O’Donnell. “We’re not just going to sit by and let her destroy Mike Castle,” a Castle campaign source told Hotline On Call. Hotline On Call reported that Castle has purchased about $180K worth of air time from Aug. 31 to Sept. 6. The campaign says that, at this point, it is not planning to air the negative ads during that time span, but it could change its mind. The campaign is currently making the ads. Castle is planning on staying on air through the primary. So, it sounds like he’ll go negative the week before the primary — Sept. 7 through primary day on Sept. 14. Castle is preparing for what looks like it will be an onslaught of ads from the Tea Party Express in support of O’Donnell. The group, which backed Joe Miller in his upset of Lisa Murkowski (R) in AK SEN last week, is vowing to spend at least $250K on this airing ads in Delaware. Chris Good at The Atlantic got his hands on one of the ads, but, as of now, the Tea Party Express has not aired it. Read the rest

This Tea Party Express TV Ad was featured in the following article in The Atlantic.
Tea Party Express’ First TV Ad in Delaware Tea Party Express has shaken up more than one Senate race with its simple yet effective TV ads this year. Delaware’s Republican primary could be next. Moderate Republican Congressman Mike Castle has led this race for most of the election cycle, and many assumed he would win in November, delivering Vice President Biden’s former Senate seat into the GOP’s hands. But earlier this week Tea Party Express endorsed his primary opponent, conservative commentator Christine O’Donnell, whom no one outside of the state knew much about, and whom the Delaware GOP vehemently opposes (Castle won he party’s endorsement earlier this year). Tea Party Express says it will try to spend around $250,000 to fuel O’Donnell’s primary challenge in the final two weeks before the September 14 primary, devoting most of that to TV and radio ad campaigns. Here’s a rough cut (not yet final) of the first TV ad Tea Party Express will air in the state: Read the rest

Mike Castle must be looking at internal polls and is scared to death! He’s running neck and neck with Christine O’Donnell and is lashing out. He resorted to paying BIG BUCKS on ads smearing Christine O’Donnell on the Drudge Report and other Internet sites. He also has bought Google ‘Sponsored Links’, which show up at the top of a Google search for ‘Christine O’Donnell’. Those links are smearing her, too!
Mike Castle has never had a competitive race in his entire career. Now that he’s in one, he doesn’t know how to behave. The Delaware GOP, headed by Chairman, Tom Ross, is working in lock-step with the Castle campaign and the Delaware News Journal reporter, Ginger Gibson, to spread the lies. Yesterday, Ross was interviewed by Fox News Channel’s Chief Political Correspondent, Carl Cameron. In that interview Ross parroted the same salvo of smear attacks that the Castle campaign is pushing.
Much of the Castle campaign’s hysteria is do to the arrival of the powerful grass-roots organization, the Tea Party Express. See the Tea Party Express’ First TV Ad in Delaware.
Fortunately, Delaware Republicans are seeing those attacks as nothing more than disgusting politics. They see the threat Castle represents as a proponent of Obama’s radical agenda like Cap & Trade, Obamacare and bankrupting our country with failed stimulus packages. It’s time to send that smear-monger, career politician into retirement!
